The BBGreen project was the worlds first full scale high-speed electric ferry concept. Power Tech Sweden was in charge of the power/electric distribution systems. BBGreen uses air cushion technology to reduce water resistance and, thus, increase range and efficiency. It is a 20m long vessel, capable of reaching a top speed of 28 knots, fully electric. It uses a combination of electric motors and volvo penta IPS pods for propulsion, also the first of its kind.
